Regional MEP Visits Fairtrade Felixstowe
Richard Howitt MEP took tea with members of the town’s Fairtrade Forum at Harambee recently (5 March). He requested the meeting so that he could learn more about the town’s recent successful application for Fairtrade Town status.
The chairman of the Forum is Alan Muchal. He said: “We were pleased to meet Mr Howitt and to explain what we had to do to become a Fairtrade Town. We, in turn, were able to ask him about European trade policy and how it affects producers in the developing world. Mr Howitt signed up as a member of the Forum and we promised to keep him informed of future events and activities in Felixstowe.”
Harambee is Felixstowe’s Fairtrade shop and stocks a variety of fairly traded goods from around the world -including gifts, accessories and hand crafted greetings cards. It is run by Glynnis Potter and Anne Neve - who baked a Fairtrade cake especially for the visit.
